The Doctor's Dossier: Subject 005
Dr. Elwyck Valorand's Log,
Star-date: 06-02-2547 AE, 06:15; Europa
Atlas Relay Station
Subject 005
Name: Vivian Graves
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Race: Human
Humans are often considered to be the most mundane species in the universe. A statement I believe to be false in so many ways. You can spend a lifetime studying humans, learning everything there is to know about them, and they'll still manage to find a way to surprise you with something new each day. Compared to most other species, the human race has the highest birth to death ratio among the universe's intelligent life forms. They are not that strong, lack natural protection, and have very little in terms of arcane prowess. But what they lack in ability, they more than make up for with remarkably unmatched resourcefulness, determination, and will power. Where there is a will, there is a way, and for humans; they always find a way.
Subject 005 is one such case of a human pushing their self to the limit and going above and beyond. A bit of a thrill seeker, Vivian is one of the youngest members to ever have joined our team. A very spirited and hot headed individual who lives for the thrill of danger. Born and raised on a Junker Colony in orbit of Europa; Subject 005 was a civilian aboard the Atlas Junker Colony whom worked as a junker. Hacking, data jacking, security infiltration, and retrieval of post war relics were an everyday occurrence for her. No stranger to hostile artificial intelligence and corrupt security systems, Vivian was a skilled junker. For a while she went under our radar as a stow away until she was found in the cargo hold of our orbiter. At first we were less than pleased but she proved Her abilities made her a very valuable asset and as such we took her in where no one else would. She's a right nightmare with a datajack, capable of taking down some very advanced security systems in a matter of minutes. However, her dangerous tendencies got the best of her in a recent event. Subject 005 has come in contact with a rare strain of vampirism while on the planet Necronis. A very dangerous disease that alters one's mind and body, usually in very negative ways. Fortunately the strain that Vivian came in contact with has yet to show signs of any negative impact. Effectively she can now be classified as a Dhampir. Stronger, faster, and far more attuned to the arcane than most humans are capable of. While the result of this infection is very recent, she is learning to adapt to her newfound abilities rather well. Though she has learned quickly that there are serious drawbacks to this disease. Ultraviolet light seems to cause a lot of discomfort as well as headaches and blurred vision while direct sunlight causes minor burning and temporary shock if suddenly exposed to solar rays. Her hearing range is almost on par with that of the Chiropterans of Equinox which is remarkable but leaves her very vulnerable to high and low pitched sounds outside of normal human hearing range. Her body is no longer capable of naturally producing iron, erythrocytes, leukocytes, and thrombocytes, therefore she must consume high quantities of these commonly found in blood, much like a true vampire would. However unlike a vampire Dhampirs also require base nutrition as well. Luckily there are solutions to these issues.
While there is a treatment available for this disease, she chooses to embrace this newfound power. I fear it may possibly overcome her psyche, but so far she has proven me wrong on more than one occasion. With a remarkable healing power and enhanced physical abilities, she is far more capable than before. Perhaps it is more of a gift and less of a curse. It's far too soon to say for sure. It's very possible she may have been granted a very long lifespan thanks to this little mishap, however only time will tell depending on the strain of this disease. Further studies required.
