12-11-19 [My frand Skydermans! :D]
Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I woke up around 11:15 when my alarm went off, then roused myself awake and grabbed a shower. After I was ready for the day I went upstairs because mum wanted me to go pick up froot from Central Elementary, but she wasn't there and I had to call her. She said she decided to go out and about and she grabbed the froot, so I had the day to myself! I did eat some of my 14 layer jello 'cause I wanted to kill off some of it (Really good!), then I headed out and about!
...Or I would have, but right as I was getting into my car I saw the post delivery man arrive. He was pretty frandly and he said he had like 6 boxes for us, and I thought it funny how chaotic his boxes were piled in the back of his jeep! X)
After putting the boxes in the house I headed to Draffenville. I called grandma en route and she said she was just watching more of the impeachment hearings, and she was just kinda lazing around. She was a bit worried about Connie, 'cause she was becoming a bit of a recluse, and she said that Helzabusch just turned 94...Quite old, and though his mind is really really gunked up (can't remember anything), it's an age his BFF (my grandpa) never saw. I guess they'll be reunited soon.
By the time I finished talking to her I was in the Arby's parking lot, and I went through the drive-thru and ordered a #3 (Reuben with curly fries and a medium Conke). I parked behind the building and stared out at the field as I ate the fries, then I grew p tired and sorta nodded off. I didn't sleep long, and I woke a couple times, but when I was ready to go I woke up around 12:30ish and ate the sammiches. I grabbed some gas, then I wanted to go geocaching!
The first place I went was a little off-shoot road near the dam. When I looked at it on the satellite map, I saw that the photo had been taken when the area was actually underwater! I parked and grabbed a few pics of the area, since it was absolutely wonderful! The locks were open and the water was gushing out and creating loads of foam on the surface of the lake, causing it to sparkle like the snow! I walked up to an old disused bathroom area and found the cache at the base of a sign about the gulls that inhabit the area. Before leaving, I checked the bathroom and saw a large wasp nest in the doorway of the caged-off men's bathroom.
After that I drove toward the dam and pulled off onto Powerhouse Island. This was a little island situated beneath the dam that contains, among other thing, the visitor center and power station. I snapped a few photos and drove down to the lower lookout area, then parked and grabbed the cache in the parking lot.
After that I headed East and North to the area near Patty's, but it was near the numerous trails that snake through the woods. I parked and climbed to the flag pole area, where a cache was purported to be. This was a cache that wanted me to find the 30 degrees from the azimuth and go 120 feet, but I couldn't find it, and I damned near walked in a circle around it. Honestly, I should stop trying the caches that are “Go to X and walk Y feet at Z degrees”, since of all of them I've ever attempted, I've found exactly 0.
But the day was nice and the trails were super peaceful, and I was able to walk them quickly while enjoying the cool winter weather. I headed toward another cache called 'Tweet Tweet Tweet', and it said that it was located on one of the trails. I decided to get off the trails and just hone in on the location, which ultimately caused me to walk in large, concentric circles around it like 3 times...But eventually I spiraled into ground zero, where I found the cache in an old bird house hanging from a tree.
I walked back to my car, and while doing so I saw a really large and cool tree, and a massive owl! I tried to snap a photo of the owl, but he flew off before I could land a pic. I got back to my car and drove toward another cache in the East, but I missed it and wound up heading toward LBL. I turned around in Grand Rivers, and while there I grabbed an earthcache that asked me to analyze the stone composition of this boulder and a bench. Also there was a sign that was being eaten by a tree, which was neat!
I then went and got my last cache of the day, which was a touching (and albeit, badly spelled and edited) tribute to a woman named Sam who died at 34 of Lupus. It was in a nice little lot in view of Barkley Lake, and I saw some deer and it was just the perfect way to cap off the day. I grabbed the cache (Even got a pathtag!), then headed home.
It was a nice drive and when I got there I went downstairs and spent a little time relaxing. I nodded off to sleep, and I had a really weird dream that I was at a nature preserve and this orange-pink baby bird got imprinted on me after I spit a piece of candy cane into a fish pond. It flew around my face and I tried to move but it bit my finger and just held on to my finger. I went to find a ranger but when I went inside the bird collapsed to the floor and began swelling huge and then when it was the size of a baseball it began expelling a giant flatworm. A doctor appeared and began trying to save it, but I was too distraught and went to a nearby corner and just started crying uncontrollably.
I woke up and went upstairs and ate a bowl of chili (was still warm from being cooked so I didn't hafta nuke it) then I went downstairs and started a fire...But dad came down and noticed the pipe was cracked, and so I had to quickly rub the fire out because it's gotta be fixed. He also went further and, in his normal insufferable self, felt it necessary to bitch about 4 cans sitting out...Because he wants me to bring them upstairs each time I drink one, I guess? He went upstairs tho, and that was good. I then spent a bit of time doodling and watching tubes before heading to bed around 4ish.
I hope everyone has a cool-geocaching day! <333
