Another of the drawing I started during my most recent Picarto stream which was a tribute to the late Syd Mead. One of the films Syd worked on was the 1986 film Aliens. I could see Sweetie Belle as Newt and Rarity as Ripley, and the changelings as the aliens. Beside I would love to hear Tabitha St. Germain as Rarity yells this line.

Fun tip- The pulse rifles were based on Thompson submachine guns, and a U.S. company even made a fully-functional version, the MAX 41A.

Yeah. It was the one fun thing I was able to do here was to make the M41A a complete system unified system instead of the mashup of existing weapons they had to use for the film. So it has actual sights on it, an integrated tactical light and laser aiming system, and shot counter only lights up if you push a button. Instead of giving your location away.
It's "recoilless" because it's a pistol caliber in a weapon weighing somewhere between 15 and 20 pounds - one of the the things that you don't see in videos is that the pulse-rifle props are *extremely* heavy, it's a basically a Thompson submachinegun *and* a pump action shotgun bolted together inside a fiberglass shell: the vast majority of automatic rifles you see elsewhere are in rifle calibers and weigh half as much or less.
Oh, I know about the calibers and weight. I used to sell sporting goods and I learned from one of the most knowledgable sporting goods people I've ever known. However, even heavy firearms with small calibers have a small amount of recoil, simply because of the design of bullets and rifle barrels. (The bullet being slightly larger in diameter than the ID of the barrel.) The expulsion of the bullet from the barrel is what causes the recoil. But, as I watched the video of the rifle, I saw absolutely no recoil. I'm guessing this is because of the weight of the rifle itself that you mentioned.
Whaddya know, I still got this link I copied that's perfect for this occasion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsuSpei9cf8
