History: Art trade with Bijoux (now bijouxdefoxxe), started under FurAffinity 1.0, but was cut short by "The Big Outage". Being that FA's message system was the only means of contacting her, and unsure of how long it would take for FA to resurrect itself, I would periodically come back to this pic and tweak things here and there.
With FA resurrected I re-established contact, and put the finishing touches in, and added a few additional details for visual variety.
As of 5/15/06 the status of this trade became "Failed". This trade was initially a response to a general solicitation, so I didn't initiate it. Whether the other artist forgot, didn't want to be bothered, or was put off by my contacting her after FA's resurrection, I don't know (you can see the first comment, so my half was known to be complete). In any case I'm not pursuing the matter further, unwatched her (as she had removed me prior to my attempts to contact her), and chalked this up as a failed trade.
Technical notes:
--The Etines "Kingpin" sneakers aren't actually made in blue--indeed, up to the point I first went looking for a pair of skateboard shoes, I was unaware that they only really came in shades of black/grey/brown (to the best of my observations)--but the color went with the outfit, and the style seemed more up-to date than the Puma-style kicks on the original.
--Yes, subways in NYC are as graffiti-free as the R142 train in the pic. The location is a stylized view looking north toward the Bronx Zoo from the East Tremont-West Farms Square elevated station. The number on the signal is accurate, but I left out the equipment room (added during a signal upgrade) and stairway that in real life obstruct the view of the sky here. The apartment building doesn't exist in this view (it's actually next to the station), but was added for variety. And lastly, the "Do Not enter or cross tracks" sign is clipped from a photo of the real thing, supposedly easier than drawing it, but maybe it came out even after clipping out and re-superimposing his elbow and knee over the photo.
--Original pencils were inked with a #2 brush (yes, I'm one of those oddities who use a brush to ink). Digital color was done with Micrografx Picture Publisher 8, proving that one doesn't absolutely *have* to use Photoshop to turn out something decent :)
--Original size: 2552x3300, 300dpi, 24MB

Nope :)
I travel through that part of town frequently enough to remember details about the location. It's based on E. Tremont Ave station, looking north.
It also helps that I learned to draw machines (and oddly enough, sneakers) long before doing anthro characters.

There are a couple of other subway themed pics I've done, but I prefer my subways free of graffiti. People see me drawing and ask if I draw tags...my response is "Nope":) .
I also have close to 100 subway cars in my train collection, though I've only videotaped one of the trains so far--look up my username on YouTube for a ten-car set of R62's.
