Haidar, a raùnan blacksmith at work, looking at one of the shoes for the deer-centaur Ahefkah.
Commission for Anbessa of his specie Raùna, sort of feline with hooves. A very interesting design if you want my opinion =)

I just might. :)
Bear in mind that I'll be using commercially made blades to stay in compliance with the regulations on the SCA; and it will be months or a year before I have all the tools and materials I expect to need to make even the first real rapier hilt....
But I will be working in tempered spring steel, and if you look at my other site, you'll see some of the knife work I used to do many years ago.

He lifted the tiny piece of wrought iron up and inspected it through the magic glass. It looked alright, although a bit on the rough, unrefined side. He still couldn't believe that one of the magic taurs came to him of all blacksmiths for a set of irons; he didn't have a big name, or a tall reputation for craftsmanship. He was but a blacksmith who made a decent living off his crafts. Irons, gates, door handles... the finer stuff people went to his competitors. Locks and keys, daggers, or swords were never his forte.
But Ahefkah, as was his, or her, name, accepted no "no" for an answer, even provided him with that curious monocle made of a barely translucent red crystal. Gave him headaches, that little bugger, but Raú have mercy, it was an amazing piece, allowing him to see gaps and imperfections within the material like he now had an all-seeing eye! And surely he would buy his raw stuffs somewhere else, that merchant was selling scrapes off the street for refined iron! Small wonder his irons wore down like they did... but no more. From this day forward, nothing's gonna be the same...
as you can see, I'm delighted beyond mere words. once again you took an idea and made something... higher out of it. I had no hint at what you was about to do, really. irons for Ahefkah? what a curious notion, and they are even half-irons for cloven hooves!
I love his concentrated squinting, the magnifying glass device (surely magical, no less!) the gear, the clean working space, his sturdy-looking clothes and gear... fresh green fur, great fur markings, the lean musculature of a craftsman, the curious-looking hammer...
and a raúna woman strolling by on the other side of the window. nicely done buildings, too. ^^
is that his master signature on the tool holster?
payment is on it's way, too. also, I wonder if shipping would be possible? I know you declined it after some pieces got lost in the mail, but maybe there is a way...
oh, you are free to name the character, btw. you created him after all. =^_^=

I agree, a very interesting design, the feet alone captured my imagination and got me wanting to know a little more about them. Great composition in the room with the window. Just looking at it reminds me how hard it can be to keep things not in proper perspective, but their scale as well. A commission with value to match it's cost.
... I still need to commission you one of these days. *Kicks empty wallet*
