I have to agree, that block o' text is pretty intimidating. It could easily be broken into seven or so smaller paragraphs. I wish I had something more constructive on how to do it, but I've always worked by feel. Watch how other authors do it, and try to get a feel for it yourself.
A good guideline (emphasis on the guideline! There are very few hard and fast rules in art of any kind) is not to exceed 10 sentences in a single paragraph. While you certainly can exceed that limit, the more sentences you stick in there, the more likely it is that a reader will skip it altogether.
There's a good concept here, but it gets lost in the block!
