The local puma population had been booming for the last several years, and no one knew quite why. Well... no one apart from the many campers who ventured out into the woods, only to be confronted with the loss of their human forms.

In any case, survival in the woods has become easier for them. No more worrying about the right clothing, they now have an all-weather fur. In any case, there are now two more beautiful cougars out there in the wilderness. But again the hikers just left their tents and equipment in the outdoors.
Exactly, they were trying to survive out in the woods, nature just equipped them with better forms to do so.
Gonna have to remember that thing about the abandoned gear. If I ever run into any out on a trail, there will always be that curiosity of a freshly changed camper is nearby.
