A cheaply cobbled-together group shot of what looks to be the initial roster of my tween-age superhero team, The Union. Left to right:
Catspaw - When Jessie Queen finds a dusty old cat costume in her great-aunt's attic just in time to wear for her school's Halloween dance, she had no idea that it was actually an ancient magic artifact that grants its wearer fantastic powers but compels them to seek out evil and protect the innocent.
The Mighty Goo - Gerald Johnson, orphaned by a car accident and newly moved in with his aunt, Det. Gracie Long, finds himself kidnapped by local thugs trying to intimidate her into obeying their boss. While escaping, he's shot, doused with a strange green chemical, and struck by lightning, granting him the power to generate and control a glowing green gelatinous field that can either stick to or rebound against any substance.
Wardoll - Unearthed by her creator's daughter while excavating one of her famous dead father's hidden labs, M.A.I.S.Y. represents both his greatest creation and darkest shame. With a combination of quick thinking, blackmail, and bargaining, the brash android manages to barter her life in exchange for doling out the secrets of her creation, becoming a hero to both keep herself in the public eye and to somehow prove that she is more than merely the toy she was built to be.
Captain Kid - When Andy Washington's father disappears while investigating the source of the legendary Captain Eagle's super-powers, he manages to send his genius son the plans for an "Energy Transfer Device" that, when built, charges Andy with a portion of the Patriot Force, making him stronger and faster than any full-grown man and gifting him with a near-psychic "tactical sense" that allows him to see how to win any battle. Disguising himself in a costume inspired by Captain Eagle, he now fights to learn the whereabouts of both his father and Captain Eagle while still upholding the legacy he's now a part of.
This group was originally named after the abandoned newspaper building they first came together at in my fictional "hero-opolis" Iron City, but since I couldn't think of a better name for their team, it seems to have stuck.

Ooooo. Neat. >^.^<
I like the backstories, they don't seem "too" farfetched to me. The Mighty Goo does a bit, but i mean, being someone like that, its GOT to be a little farfetched.
Fav is Catspaw, and not just because its a cat- i love the creativity of the origin of her. XD So tired of hearing about scientific experiments and being bitten by a radioactive cat or something. The ancient artifact thing is fun. Have you developed which ancient society it might be from?

Actually, yeah, I had the suit's origin years before I created its wearer, LOL...it's the Armor of Bast, the physical embodiment of the godhood she and her fellow deities had to cast off in order to be allowed to continue to exist (I called it the "Pact of Nemesis" for reasons that made much more sense back in the 90's). Each of the pantheons had their own ways to try and get around the Pact, but several gods tried to subvert it by placing the bulk of their power into objects they could claim later when needed...considering Bast's godhood is now being worn by a middle-school student, you can guess how well that plan went (coincidentally, this also allows me a "Free Pass" if I can't come up with a specific origin or two down the road, like possibly the origin of the Patriot Force or the source of Wardoll's sentience).
As for Goo's origin, his is the way it is because, unlike the others, I actually wrote it out as a serial over at the Mutants & Masterminds forum 6 years ago (Goo is actually over a decade old) before I turned to porn. Unfortunately, the only part of the story that still survives is the villain's intro which I posted here last night, too...in fact, the kidnapping Turkman is being punished for is the one that leads to Goo's creation.

Hero-opolis?
The term you're searching for, old bean, is "City Of Adventure," if you meant Iron City to be the primary setting, much as Gotham is for Batman, Metropolis for Superman or Townsville for the Powerpuff Girls.
Still... >w> I like these kids! Every single one! I would SO buy this comic!
