Our holiday trip to North began in Tver region, where this wonder happened - they decided to assign steam loco to regular train line from Bologoe to Ostashkov, on "sanctuary" railroad (former Bologoe-Polotsk railroad). This train runs with diesel loco on workdays, and with steam loco on saturdays and holidays.
And this is awesome! I can say for now it is one of very few alive things on russian railways.
Photo taken on long stop at Kuzhenkino station, where steam loco was loaded with water. Station made into museum, with restored station buildings, interiors and other features.
