Generally they don't bite unless they are stressed or feel threatened. Spiders don't bite out of malice - and you're too big to eat. Slow movements in the general direction of "away" are the best strategy when dealing with potentially poisonous critters. Bring a stick when exploring basements and crawl-spaces so you can push spiders aside before you walk into their webs. Avoid brown recluse bites by always shaking out your shoes (and clothes that have been in storage) before putting them on.

i understand all that but this is a childhood fear of spiders. i didn't kill her just moved her out into the woods away from every one and let her go. i know some one else in camp would have set shoe on her with out thinking. as for crawl-spaces i am way to big for that and after seeing the wounds left from a brown i always check things out before using them.

and i have seen videos of how a black widdow deals with a male seduction is her trade and when she is done doing what she needs a quick bite to the head and he gives her the energy needed to brood her eggs.
