Pollen in the Misted Hills- Kitten TF
More adventures in color!

A curious trekker crested the last of the dead ridges and looked down upon a magnificent sight. The unreal light glistened off the dewy grass of miles of rolling fields, speckled with brilliant wildflowers. He'd spent weeks struggling over desolate mountains, pushing onward, remembering the promise of a magical meadow at journey's end. The sight took filled his weary heart with sheer ardent excitement. Forgetting all fatigue he began to sprint down the cliffside, the steep incline caused uncontrollable acceleration, but he didn't care. The cracked ugly rock beneath his feet transformed into fertile soil. Now he was ankle deep in grass, now up to his knees. He was laughing like a child all the way. He was kicking up golden dust from the flowers he passed. The slope evened out and he slowly let his legs lose momentum, he came to a halt puffing and giggling, doubled over, hands on his knees. He was breathing in massive amounts of flower fragrance. He stared around, a mist had settled over the land, swathing the horizon, making it indistinguishable from the sky. It was surreally beautiful.
The pollen of the flowers was causing a progressive tickling in his nose. It was strange as he knew he was not allergic to flowers of any kind, at least none he's come across so far in his wide travels. The tickling reached a peak- "Ah- Aaaah- AH-CHOO!" He sharply inhaled several times before he sneezed. Then again, AHCHOO! His eyes began to water. He rubbed his nose frantically with his handkerchief, but the sneezing continued. After the third more violent sneeze he felt a strange lurch in his stomach, as though something more than mucus buildup had been extracted in the sneeze. His head began to pound. The sneezing continued, and with each sternutation he felt as if he were losing more and more... Height? "AAAAAAH-" Through stinging eyes he saw the grass growing taller and taller around him. "CHOOOO!" He stumbled backward, disoriented by his throbbing sinuses, and his feet stepped straight out of his leather traveling boots. His windbreaker jacket, which had fit snugly not a minute ago slipped off with the next sneeze. And with the next one he somehow lost his undershirt. Feeling distinctly scared now he looked at his mucus soaked hands blearily, did they look... Hairy? Yes! Little pads had formed on his palms as well. In the interim following the next sneeze, he looked down at his chest, hair was spreading all over, light brown and thin. He felt his trousers slipping down his thighs and grabbed them before the next sneeze, which would definitely have dislodged them. He hitched them up, the bottoms were covering his stocking feet. Something twitched in the corner of his vision, he twisted his head around to see a foot long, hairy tube protruding from above the seat of his baggy trousers. It was a full 5 seconds before he realized the "tube" was attached to his tailbone- A tail. He had a tail! Panicking he began to run, blindly, sneezing some more, and he noticed now that the sneezing, though as hard as ever was getting softer in volume and higher in pitch. He passed through flowers that came up to his chest, their brightly colored petals brushed his furry flesh, the powdery pollen got caught in his fur, he tried to brush it off, but only succeeded in transferring more and more to his nose. He was crying now, not just because of the burning caused by the sinus inflammation, but because he was so scared and so alone. He didn't know where he was going! He felt his trouser legs flopping over his feet now, with another two sneezes the stockings were knocked free and on the backswing of the fabric they each went flying in turn...
The flowers swayed indifferently in a lazy breeze.

He'll be fine. ...Not sure how, but what harm could come to a kitten in a field of flowers? Well- Besides the nasty, nasty hay fever.
Curiosity won't kill the cat though, don't worry.
Love the plum trousers. ^^

Heh, I can't help but think this is rather ironic, or just plain coincidence *dabs at his own snout with a handkerchief* I mean, I've been dealing with allergies myself, but NEVER had a reaction like that XD.
But, anyway. An interesting concept for transformation, but the narrative certainly sells it (one sneeze makes you smaller...hmmm. Sneezes and Hiccups seemed to go with transformations hand in hand, don't they? *chuckles*), while the picture shows off a bit more of your coloring skills (Flick of the wrist when it comes to the grass, eh? I ask cause that must've given you some discomfort, getting each individual blade of windblown grass down). The baggy plum trousers (everyone enjoys a running gag, don't they...except for the kitten. Running in those, and bound to fall face first into even more pollen X3), kicking and flapping is well illustrated with the details of wrinkles in the fabric (as well as the flying sock).
I just wonder: the yellow substance around the soon to be kitten form is the pollen, correct? Or is that the transformation taking effect, in the form of a yellow aura? I just wanted to be sure which is which. It looks good, just had me rather curious >.>

I admit I was thinking of you when I wrote the narrative... I hope you're still feeling better.
Sort of puts flowers in a new perspective, eh? I've usually used them as symbolism in previous narratives- The daffodil most prominently... But there's all kinds in the world, eh? *wicked witch cackle* Poppies! Poppies will put him to sleep! ...Or turn him into a panicking feline of some sort. Yeah... *hack*
I er- gotta confess to you that the grass... Is not really all that difficult to pull off- It's a Photoshop brush- *blush* A really common one, everyone uses it, I feel sort of ashamed having stuck it in there... Only a few blades can my flicking wrist actually be given credit... *grimace and gulps*
Yeah, that yellow discharge above our kitten-explorer's head was supposed to be a sort of graphic aura... I never really mentioned it in the narrative as it was written after the fact, like so much of my stuff... Hence the disconnect that often occurs...
Thanks so much Odin, I don't respond to many of your comments, but they're the best, really- I just want to say that. They always bring warmth and smiles to my day. *blushes at the cliche-ness of his pronouncement*

Ah, I thought so...still, I'm flattered that I inspired this unique little story. And yes I am, thank you *tips hat to the koopa* Sleep does indeed help revitalize the foggy mind.
Heh, and here I thought I was going to be the one who'll make pop culture references in comments. But thats a good one. I'm surprised I didn't think of that XD
Ah, I see. Well, it was still used in an effect which was both very pretty and well executed. I've used Photoshop before, but hadn't considered it at the time. Still, its nothing to fret about. You use the tools you have, and that's whats important.
Well, its not necessarily a disconnection. I interpreted it as such, but given its nature/drawn style, it could be interpreted differently but still remain effective (just in different manners >.> if that makes sense ^^;)
And you're very welcome *blushes* I'm glad you enjoy my comments. Sometimes, after reading them after the fact, I sort of feel silly by some of the things I say. But, as long as they bring a smile to your face, I think I must've done something right. So, thank you for telling me that *snugs the koopa* and it might be cliche, but its still sweet of you to say =3
