First step to building my next head.
1. I found a good side shot of a fox yawning that i cropped, blew up, and printed out. Then i glued the print out to two pieces of poster board and cut the shape out.
2. Then I used a hot wire to cut out the shape using the poster board as a template/guide.
3. I imagined what the top view would look like and used the hot wire to trim out the vertical profile of the head. Then I hit it with some sand paper to take down the sharp corners.
Goals for this head.
A) be under 1 pound when furred.
B) "Safety muzzle" that'll absorb impact or safely break away in the event of a hard collision.
C) Mechanically advantaged jaw. (jaw movement is multiplied)
D) Possible animatronics with blinking eyes and smile/growl movement.
More to come later.

The head is going to have the muzzle as a separate piece that gets glued on. In the event of a impact, the glue bond will break and the muzzle will skid up the outside of the carbon-fiber skull, harmlessly. It'll be embarrassing walking around with a broken muzzle until I can find some superglue or hotglue to glue it back together.
And yes, you can heat up a wire with electrical current and it happily slices thou styrofoam like childs play.
