in the past timeline, Terrex was one of Ender’s suitors. Terrex is a prince who comes from a powerful kingdom who finds himself rivaled to Zerik as a potential love interest. Ender never liked Terrex due to his stuck up personality, manipulation, and abusive nature and she finds him extremely hard to get rid of. Zerik finds himself butting into Ender’s conflict when he accompanies his best friend, Alastor, and Alastor’s father with discussing affairs with the other king. This is where he and Alastor meet the sisters. Celestal took interest in Alastor and they got along quite well from the start. However, Ender was much harder to get to and she slips away due to her past experiences with interacting with others. Zerik notices this and follows after her, trying to make conversation. Ender, naturally, is rather cold and uninterested in Zerik but when Terrex makes his unwanted arrival, Zerik notices something is wrong. Ender keeps her distance from Terrex, and suddenly choosing to stay close to Zerik. Terrex, taking Zerik’s presence around Ender as a rival, gets angry at the idea that he will loose his grasp on the very uncomfortable and terrified princess, decides to try to separate them. However, Zerik steps in and doesn’t leave Ender alone with him. Terrex is eventually forced out by the two irritated kings after almost causing a physical fight between the princes and interrupting their conversation. Ender realizes that maybe she can give Zerik a chance even if it wasn’t his original intention to peruse her. And so their friendship and later relationship began.
