There are three types of Gnolls in Ferrowind. Originally they were just a race of hyena people. But after the “Polyphemus exodus”, many of the Gnolls lost their homes and settled in other countries.

Gnolls that settled in Arctic and mountain regions became more wolf like and ones that settled in regiond with forests and plains became more Fox like.

Those that still live in jungle and savanna regions are still hyenas.

The hyena Gnolls are the tallest of this race, while the foxes are the shortest.
