This sign sat in the artist's shop for the last two years because CalTrans would not allow it to be put up.
It violated their rules on highway signage and the small park in front of the Denney's Restaurant was CalTrans property.
Took two years for the city to arrange to buy it from them so the sign could be put up. This intersection is also the location that most maps I have seen place the name of the city of Ridgecrest.
1/4 mi. west is the Historic USO building that they recently restored to the condition it was in the 1940s.
I need to make some time to get over there and take some photos.
