I think it's pretty well established that Jedi are good at deflecting blasterfire. So while a high-accuracy pistol is a bounty hunter's best friend 90% of the time, you can't expect it to do more than slow a Jedi down. Snipers are notoriously unreliable when taking out Jedi. (and you better hope he can't AIM deflected shots)
There ARE exceptions tho: Jedi don't last long, having concentrated rapid fire from several directions, as evident in Ep3. using a blaster that has massive recoil (like walker mounted blasters or tankbusters) WILL wrench a lightsaber out of one's hands. Explosive and Concussion rounds usually detonate on impact with saber blade, tho you can expect missles and grenades to be force-pushed right back. Tho, most Jedi abilites and defenses are useless if they're properly distracted- by electrocution, lack of air, fatigue, or rage.

not to mention jump.
I'll move three rounds before you know your looking at me to behind where your looking at me from.
I don't like getting cornered I have to say.
the concept is based around removing the weilder in the moves of the blade, I switch from hand to hand, making fast attacks from all angles, as if I am not even touching the blade, I sometimes quite litteraly throw it from one hand to the other across the target range.
I move it as if I'm not even there to be in the way.
I haven't thought of a name for it though, something that means "the dancing blade", or "the unwielded blade" would fit the best, but I don't know for sure.
Sounds kewl, and seems like totally plausible moves for a Jedi!
You COULD say you have a variation on a Jedi-Sniper style (granted they probably didn't exist, as they were in that Ep3 game) -in the sense that they were attuned to their connection to their sabers, thru the Force.
I kinda like Form V. It's slow, but has a solid defense, and focuses on using an opponent's strikes against themselves.
I wonder if soretsu could even block it, the blade never needs to reset and never gives the opponent time to reset unless they withdraw from the melee entirely.
and once you do that, I bring ranged offensive moves into the mix, which would just make styles almost pointless.
thinking about it more, a blade made for this style would benifit from a timer release on the blade, so that it would stay on while passing from hand to hand, but if it does an unintended movement it would time out and shut off so it doesn't cut the user in half or something.
wouldn't be able to saber throw with it then though, unless I kept a line of string like force around the activation pressure panel.
but then if I figured out to do something like that, I could puppetmaster it and actually not be phsyicaly welding the blade just like the style represents.
I think I might be over thinking this.
I thought the point of keeping the saber close to oneself in Soretsu was to give you that extra fraction of a second to prepare for ANY oncoming attack and can defend against multiple opponents. So i wouldn't underestimate it.
I think you'd have an advantage over someone like Master Luminarii tho. It appears that perfectionists at saber combat put themselves at a disadvantage against the unexpected. At least that's how it seemed when she fought Ventress' random and unrelenting style.
It sounds like you're focusing on onehanded strikes, so you MAY have to worry about someone simply powering thru your defences. Tho if you can dodge, that might work to your advantage...
and yes, I am in a perfect position to dodge, if I'm willing to let go of my saber completely and disarm myself.
of course, I could just carry extras, or force pull it back to my hand.
the force is a most useful creative tool no?
Wielding multiple sabers like that WOULD be pretty kewl to see. ^^
Makes me wonder how unarmed deflection of blaster bolts is suposed to work anyway, given that they have no solid projectile to push back...
Feh, then there's The Force Unleashed- get enough points on Saber Deflect and he can just 'wave' blastershots away. :p
