I am proud to celebrate 6 years spent in the furry fandom with the creation of this lovely new reference sheet for my oc, Sai Wu!
Name: Sai Wu
Species: Fox
Likes: Video games, ramen(not the packaged stuff though), movies, art, history, computers, motorcycles, briefs
Dislikes: Prejudice, jerks on the internet, cigarettes, vapes, mushrooms.
Personality Traits: Sensitive, introspective, shy, contemplative, spacey, gentle, bohemian, perfectionist.
Special Condition: Eldritch-touched
Elemental Affinity: Wind
Bio: Sai Wu’s paternal grandparents hailed from a lineage of foxes produced in a series of Rosinan eugenics experiments - ones modified by The Totem of Novelty. This totem bequeathed arcane power onto the individuals that were modified by such, as well the future progeny and posterity they produced. The artifact was forged by a god known as Siltzruul to create loyal arcane servants out of mortals - ones that served to protect, serve, and entertain the easily bored deity. A lover of both novelty and possessive of a strange sense of humor, Siltzruul also added a peculiar auxiliary condition to their modifier: products of the artifact would suffer frequent wardrobe malfunctions! Now said effects would be of no concern or even known to most of the Wu family as well as it's extension...except for the descendant, Sai Wu.
The young vulpine was raised with an ordinary but happy upbringing. Their parents doted on them, and they never had to want for anything. Sai was showed a lot of love, and they showed a lot of love in return - ensuring that they maintained a good relationship with their immediate family.
Sai spent their formative years in various homes across his home country - further fortifying their unerring wanderer's instinct. Because their family moved so often - they had trouble forming long-term relationships, and thus the fox grew quiet, shy, and reserved. Regardless, Sai tried to treat people kindly whenever they could - hoping to be of assistance in some way. Though this can sometimes lead to them being unintentionally obtrusive.
One fateful day, Sai found torn and weathered pages full of incomprehensible etchings in a box that contained some old family possessions. Though Sai could not understand the strange inscriptions, the words seemed to resonate with them in their very core - and their fascination only grew from there. For many restless nights, Sai would intensely study the pages - which was unusual for them as they did not care much for the process of studying. Eventually, Sai began to see a pattern in the inscriptions - finding that they resembled code like the ones wrote for that one computer science class they just barely crammed through. Despite their lackluster programming knowledge, Sai’s innate affinity allowed them to understand in a way others could not.
With this information in mind, Sai wrote and compiled code exactly like the one they found in the pages - writing them in the coding language of Expresso. After much trial and error, Sai got the program to work - causing eldritch energy to erupt out of their computer into thereself and the tablet computer that hooked up via usb. Though Sai’s $2000 desktop was sadly toast, they had successfully awakened their innate arcane power.
The tablet computer now acted as the medium for which they would now channel this power. As Sai’s elemental affinity was wind, their power acted by evoking gusts of otherworldly origin. Unfortunately, Sai struggled to even use the most basic utilities of this newly developed ability. Sai would quickly tire thereself out after summoning a gentle breeze, or just outright blow their clothes off!
However, Sai’s efforts were not wasted as the fox caught the attention of Dr. Tachibana and Dr. Bachchan - the heads of Vita Hospital. The doctors immediately took the vulpine in under their wing and offered them an environment to safely learn how to control and understand his powers. Though as a caveat, Sai would require frequent medical examinations and testing to ensure the patient and student remained healthy and safe.
A big, goofy dork at heart, Sai is practically harmless - if a bit submissive. Sai has a habit of getting lost in their own head, ever the space cadet. Never has a blank wall been so enthralling to anyone but Sai, who can use these as a sort of mirror to their thoughts. As well, Sai has been no stranger to humiliation, often finding thereself in just undies for a myriad of stupid reasons - another consequence of the fox’s Eldritch-touched blood. Though fairly intelligent, Sai is strangely devoid of sense. The same mind that can discuss the intricacies of philosophy and writing conventions, struggles to read a map. As well, this lack of sense can lead to them being surprisingly insensitive. One particularly ill-fated attempt at ingratiating themself with a classmate led to them joking about dead children!
In the present, Sai wanders about from one misadventure to another - often finding thereself in peculiar circumstances full of strange personalities, circumstances as well as embarrassment.
