[[NOT MY ART]]Danathius in Distress
The mage had been ambushed by several Rakshasa in the streets. They had sensed his draconic heritage, and were curious about the effects his unique bloodline would have on them. The cult members had wanted to capture him alive, but Danathius hadn't wanted to be captured at all! A battle, naturally, broke out in the streets, with the odds stacked against the poor human! Or so his captors thought... A few well-placed, but powerful, spells had rendered two of the mage's assailants downed. The third had deftly dodged out of the way of Danathius's arcane assault. The remaining Rakshasa began uttering his own spell, veiling himself in some kind of protective bubble before firing a ray of necrotic energy at the human from an outstretched palm. Thinking quickly, the human silently concentrated and erected a barrier of magical energy in front of him. The beam hit the barrier, and reflected back at demonic tiger, piercing his shield and striking the cultist square in his chest. Having temporarily stunned his opponent, Danathius pulled as much mana as he could into his next spell! A circle of brilliant, blue runes were etched onto the ground beneath of the human's opponent, and they began to glow brighter until the Rakshasa's shield shattered. With a new opening, Danathius fired a bolt of lightning from an outstretched hand, knocking the other mage off of his feet.
Once Danathius's final attacker collapsed, the mage let out a sigh, and breathed heavily before wincing in his pain. He glanced down at his wrists to see them bleeding profusely: he had over-extended his spellcasting, and he knew casting another spell would be extraordinarily dangerous. Still, at least he was out of danger, now! Or so he thought. The air crackled while reality was split open, a glistening doorway of white light appearing from nowhere. Another Rakshasa stepped through, tall, muscular, powerful. He smirked toothily at the human, and brandished a dagger in the mage's direction. Knowing he was completely out of options, the boy did the only thing he felt he could do: he fled. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him. Against someone who was capable of plane-shifting, Danathius knew he could not make it far. And soon enough, the mage ran into someone. But it wasn't a Rakshasa -- it was a dragon! A red dragon, tall, muscular, powerful as well!
"Slow down, little human," the red dragon spoke calmly, though Danathius knew the other male could sense his panic.
"You have to help me, there's a cult after me, and..." the mage began to speak, but his blood suddenly ran cold, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.
"Well, well, another dragon. I won't say no to collecting the blood from the both of you," the tiger spoke confidently while he arrogantly strode into the open street from the shadows. Again, he brandished that knife, which glistened and gleamed dangerously in the light from the gas-lit lamps. Danathius cowered and found himself instinctively grabbing a hold of the other dragon's arm. The other dragon didn't seem to mind, and smiled.
"Don't worry, little human -- I'm Arix, and I'll protect you," the red dragon said, his voice soothing to the mage's ears. "As for you, cur, get out of my sight, before you force my hand." Danathius blinked, and realized his savior was well-armed with a large broadsword.
"This should be interesting," the Rakshasa hissed, preparing himself for battle against the valiant dragon.
