Jake ran and ran but he was not treading a terribly beaten path. The asphalt stretched on forever, the sun splitting his skin apart. He had forgotten to pack the bottle, his phone ran out of battery. One can see his whole chest shaking with the breakbeat rhythm of his huge sprinter's heart.

Jake's fearful thoughts raced faster than his aching legs.

His gait became disoriented, awkward. Fatigue imminent.
He was desperate for anyone to pass by.
