I made the first stage by using the compound rest on the lathe in an angle.
For the second stage it was a bit more tricky. To get this long elegant angle I set up the tailstock on the lathe out of center.
I am also using a special live center in the tailstock that doesn`t require a center hole.
For the tooling I highly recommend carbide tools, HSS can machine grade 2 Titanium but need a lot of cooling.
Titanium in the lathe is a nightmare, you easily get great surfaces but the chiping is terrible, long strings that wrap aound everything. I had to pause machining often to remove these strings to work safely.
Oh yeah, and these strings are flameable.
Like before the blue dots marks the position of chuck number one for reclamping.
