Ten years and a handful of months ago, I drew this sketch of my character Hoshi transforming into his beastly form - I probably hardly did any sketching before switching to black ballpoint pen, and hardly did any studies and hardly ever used references for my work. I was eightteen at the time and still believed by just drawing all day every day, I would just improve automatically.

Artschool beat that out of me something fierce, and even after I quit artschool I continued to actually study anatomy, use references for drawing various animals, etc. I'm still nowhere near perfect, but I'm getting there.

Working on this has been so much fun, and has been pretty good for my self esteem, ahaha. I'd love to know what my teenaged self would've thought of all this. Good thing I actually started studying anatomy and shape and design, eh?
