Deep below the flourishing surface lies the gurgling flow of the lively lava that has continuously run for years. The opening, dark surface expels the hot vapor as it rolls over the ferns and smothers their leaves with it's cloudy grip.
Might I add...that day was freezing! It was good to huddle up near the vent and warm yourself up a bit.
