Those facial expressions are delightful - playful confidence, startled concern, while still feeling friendly - this seems like it wouldn't be that out of place in a cartoon. A lot of what you draw carries this lighthearted charm with it, regardless of the specifics.
…not denying the personal interest, I admit - the shrinking interpretation of putting one's foot down, dwindling away under pressure is appealingly done (I had just talked with a friend about something similar).
