I finally got Shield for Christmas, and well, I figured I'd do a little pic about that. So here's where we start, with a firey partner and bucketfuls of excitement for the Gym Challenge! Or something like that~

So. . . You're going to try to pass yourself off as a human, who is pretending to be a mew? Hm. That's a nice touch. Humans tend not to expect deceptions to be multi-layered (even when the first one is very obvious), so that might actually work.
Don't worry about the tail either. My daughter can get her tail to wag, and most assume it's either a neat trick she's learned or a battery-powered feature. Worst case scenario is the humans keep asking you where you got it, which you can always fudge your way out of by saying "From my mom" (which, in your case, probably is the truth).
