i would also say, its worth giving a try maybe as an optional extra?

Your art is already absolutely gorgeous and I love your present style ... still, as others have said, it’s always good to keep learning, practicing, and expanding your skills. In my opinion, you should continue to work and create pieces in your “old” style AND you should definitely work on the more “realistic” textures, as well. The more variety in skills you possess, the more potential fans, patrons, customers, etc. you’ll be able to delight. The two hair/fur examples here are beautifully textured, and I’m looking forward to seeing the pieces you will be creating in this style, too! 💜💜

The TL;DR - absolutely work on the new, more “realistic” furries, but don’t stop creating art in your “old” style.
