It's a known fact that each time humans try to play God, something goes wrong in many ways. Such was the case when they tried to create a perfectly obedient killing machines from the bionid cells.

Ever since bionids first appeared on Earth and became part of the society, military saw great potential in them as war machines, but since bionids posessed the free will and soul, there were several attempts to create a fusion between them and usual machines. First and somewhat succesful attempt was the RS series model, wich combined the reflexes, durability and some abilities bionids have, and obedience and intelligence of a super computer. For some time, these models worked perfectly, performing their duties with utmost precision and perfection, following orders without any problems. But not long after their release, they began to show some serious signs of malfunction, first slowly disobeying orders, then attacking their own, in the end to culminate with riots in the facilities when they began attacking everything in sight. Large number of units was destroyed, while some were left to study the possible causes of the malfunctioning. According to the researches, bionid cells began to interfere with the AI's main processing unit and nervous system due to the uncontrolled growth of them during the fusion, creating some sort of mutation that caused the drones to become mentally unstable. A number of the captured drones managed to escape the facilities or take them over, making them their dark home. Even 50 years after the catastrophe, these drones are one of the problems society has to deal with, and some bounty hunters even offer their services to hunt down these killing machines......
