After missing Santa last year (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30118534) I was determined the see him this time.

As I was setting Santa’s milk & cookies next to the fireplace I spotted the mice that live in the Livingroom wall staring at the cookies. I told them these were for Santa not them.

They replied that even though they looked so yummy they would never take Santa’s cookies. that would surely put them on the Naughty List!

This gave me an Idea. I made a second plate of milk and cookies and offered the mice a deal, I’d give them their own plate of treats if they will wake me up if I fell asleep before Santa came.

The mice looked longingly at the goodies but refused my offer. They knew a secret – that Santa would know if anyone was awake and wouldn’t come until everyone was asleep. They looked so sad as they started back to their hole.

Such good little mice, I didn’t want them to be sad. I gave them the cookies anyways and they said they would keep me company while I waited for Santa.

After a while they saw me yawn and knew it was time to help me fall asleep so Santa could come. One of them started humming a lullaby as he nibbled a cookie and soon my eyes were droopy. I yawned again and curled up on the floor. Another mouse climbed on my back and started to stroke my head as he joined the other humming the lullaby. Soon I was soundly asleep and Ember gave them a wink that he would take it from here. Each mouse gave me a goodnight kiss on my nose and then hurried off to bed.

I guess I’ll have to try again next year.
