Gwae and Kathalia wish you a very happy holiday!
In Alvez, the world of Kroashent, Nedeleg marks the celebration of the height of Winterrule, and is a time for celebration of family, community and charity. It is marked by several traditions, including the burning of a special log, the Kef Nedeleg, throughout the entire period. Wassailing, a ritualized form of caroling, is a popular activity, with troupes of mummers making their way from house to house and eventually to the lord's manor, singing songs and giving blessings in exchange for food and drink, in a celebration of hospitality. A special trip is made to the apple orchards to sing for the trees in thanks for the apple and cider of the previous year. These revelers are led by a figure in a white sheet wearing a horse skull.
In the Winter Court of the Unseelie Fae, special reverence is given for the tiny wren, the songbird that sings late into winter, bringing joy to the dark days of the Queen of Winter. While some in the mortal world hunt these birds after Nedeleg to bring an early end to Winterrule, the Fae of the Winter Court spend their holiday protecting and caring for these tiny creatures.
