Well, here is the finished product: a small Lamelar bracer. As previously stated, this is in 22g stainless steel and was a total beyotch to drill. The lacing is actually backwards, mostly because I wanted a pattern on the front. I might end up redoing this in leather...IDK...I mostly did this piece as a test-run of how it would go in the future. I'm kicking around the possibility of making a full chest plate out of this stuff (and hopefully by then, I'll have a decent drill).

lamelar is a variation of scales, but usually is considered it's own ''style'' of armor with other armorers. I found that lamelar is one of the easier one's to make: it requires the least amount of metal working knowledge and still produces something that looks good, and has some leeway for customization. :3
compared to something like this: http://www.fantasy-armor.com/images.....ors/AE1424.jpg mine looks plain.
Hmm if I was anymore avid about making maile armor including platemaile I'd more then likely hammer it out. This looks a bit tight on your arm. I'd look into a good solid hammer and anvil if'n I was you! I have my own ballpeen hammer left to me by a hapless and rather careless repairman :P
There're some well made improved anvil's on ebay. Seen a good few of them made from stones and old railroad rails. As for hammers get a good sturdy ball peen hammer they have a much better use. I used my ball peen to fix my chainmaile that I hammered also it is a good tool to use in making crude nails and weapons.
