Silent Night for Silent Thoughts
On the 20th day of Christmas, it was a lonely night,
until a donut-armed soul listened to a werewolf's plight.
~~~~~
The werewolf leaned over the balcony, feeling the biting cold press against his nose. It was chilly outside, but he didn't mind. It was at least something he knew he could stand. the cold never made fun, nor would it throw one of Sarge's gifts on the ground, saying it was a terrible present.
Sarge shuddered. He held his arms together tightly, remembering the image of being yelled at by someone when his Secret Santa gift just wasn't enough. "Coulda pretended to like it...."
Sighing, the werewolf felt his eyes begin to water. "That's what I get. Always that... one rotten apple to spoil the bunch." The werewolf bit his lip, choking back a sob. The werewolf's shoulders shuddered. With all the rush of the season, he had forgotten about himself again. He had felt immortal, able to make gifts for people on a moment's notice, making people smile... giving people meaningful Christmas gift....
"Are you going to be out here for the rest of the party?" Sarge heard a voice behind it. Though it was familiar, he assumed this was someone he hadn't properly associated with before.
"Yeah... probably." The werewolf leaned further over the banister, trying to hide his sobbing from the approaching stranger. "I'm just tired."
"And upset," the person remarked, walking over to the banister and leaning over it as well. Sarge saw the soft features of a familiar face... yet still a stranger. They were also a guest at the party. When Secret Santa gifts were being passed out, this person was on the opposite side of the circle from Sarge.
Sarge didn't say anything. He wanted to speak up, to not be such a downer... but exhaustion weighed down on him heavily.
"I didn't get to meet you in that party, but I feel the person who blew up at you wasn't right...." The person gave Sarge a sad smile. "We all thought that. If you had given me that gift, I would have been touched that you put so much thought into it."
Sarge stood up straight as he wiped a tear from his cheek. "I... was not expecting them to yell at me. I was thinking I woulda made them smile."
"I heard about you." The person remarked calmly. "A giftaholic. You like making people smile so much that you spend most your holiday season just giving people things."
The werewolf stopped wiping his eye as he looked over to the stranger. "My reputation precedes me. I didn't think anyone noticed... or cared."
"Aside from that jerk, everyone cared. You're a kind soul who needs to feel love." the person put their hand on Sarge's shoulder. "Name's Dieno, by the way."
"Sarge." Sarge gave a nod. He saw Dieno had lifted his free hand and placed it in front of Sarge.
"You've done a whole lot of giving, but how about I give you something instead?" Dieno nudged his hand closer and Sarge could see there was a dessert in it. "I heard you love donuts and I happen to have one."
Sarge felt his eyes begin to water again and he sniffled. "T...thanks."
"Come back inside. Everyone's waiting for you." with those words, Dieno led the werewolf back inside to a warm party with people excited to see Sarge smile.
Day twenty goes to Weavichu on Twitter. He gave a prompt about always having the best snacks... which means he'd have the best snack for any situation. As such, when Sarge is upset, he has a snack for that.
(P.s. I'm fine. I just wanted to draw something heartwarming)
