Ooooh man....classic case of old tires being sold as new...

Bought new, all 4 in fact, about 5 years ago. Taking it back to the same place I always get my tires from today the get a new one.
Don't know if there is any discount because of what happened but I can hope.

There's two kinds of new: A) New as in "Never been used" and B) New as in "Just made".

These tires are A types, older ones that have never been used so were sold as new. That gave the rubber years to dry out with no external signs, until the tread peeled away from the belt under pressure. I bet they were made in 2000.

Wow! Is that a kumo or a courser tire? Reason why I ask is because there where some recalls on the courser tires. That surely sucks ass.

Got a regular doctor appt. coming up and went to the hospital to get the blood lab work they always want every year yesterday.
It was dim inside. Had to wait awhile since their power was out and they only had a couple of computers on the emergency system to work with.

Stopped at a Costco near the wedding to try and get a new tire but they told me that they are only allowed to sell All-Terrain tires in sets of 4, not singly. So was hoping nothing more happened on the 3.5 hour drive home since I now had no spare.

Yeah. I remember seeing a ’72 Eldorado convertible at a car show a few years back, I’ve wanted one ever since. The only problem is the cost. Apart from Seville’s Cadillac’s start at NZ$20,000 and up.

1989 when a tree fell over it bending the frame and body so bad one set of wheels was on the ground the others werent

oh their great cars for size but are gas gulpers due to those huge engines

they also eat ball joints alternators and starters just for future reference

It would be like my Dads Mustang, a weekend and special occasions car not a daily driver, that’s what my Toyota Windom is for.

That tire should be covered under some kind of a warranty or recall.

That previous picture of the wire coming through was showing the fact that the belts were coming apart.

I had never heard of Costco having a four or nothing rule on tire sales.

Pictures like those are the reason I became a fan of Big-O Tire stores years ago. I had one of theirs do that, and the other one on the same axle was showing similar signs, and they just replaced both of them, no sweat, and no cost. And that was with 50k on the tires. The dealer said it was obviously bad material/bad workmanship and he covered it. Plus, they are the only dealer I'm aware of that includes the sidewall in their warranty.

Too bad the nearest dealer to here is so durned far away.

If you ever need some new tires I strongly recommend General Grabber HT2. They cost me $114 a piece for my 00' explorer. Good stuff.
