He is the youngest son of Grand Duchess Isabelle Louise of Baden and Count Friedrich Wilhelm of Stuttgart and younger brother to Prince Alexander of Baden. He was appointed as Military-Governor of Scalicia and soon was betrothed to Prince Drago of Reptilia. Johann was crowned as co-ruler to his mother, practically disinheriting Alexander from the succession. A year later, his mother died, making him sole ruler of Baden. After Prince Drago was assassinated by his ex-lover, Johann used his powers as Governor to grant himself Letters Patent, creating the Archduchy of Scalicia.
