My first big digital painting of the new semester for my Electronic Illustration class.
The professor wanted us to work small, like 6x6 I think, but of course I'm an over-achieving asshole. XD This bad boy is originally 300dpi and 11x17 inches in total. All done painstaking (but not really) in the Mac Lab on campus. Last Thursday during class I sketched this while she refreshed everyone on Photoshop and started cranking it out in about 3 hours. I finished it up tonight here in the lab while working on other assorted things for classes.
Despite being a subject and theme I draw continually, I think this is probably my best ocean scene to date. And of course, my precious H'jad turned out better than I could have hoped. Anyway, back to homework, enjoy! :D

This is a gorgeous picture. I love how equine the main figure feels, but also distinctly... not. It's something I've yearned for in my characters, and it heartens me to see others do it so expertly! The background is gorgeous; the water looks like it was challenging. There's just... so much I love about this picture.
Oh, and yarr. I see that I'm about three months late, but this is what randomly browsing through other peoples' favorites does to me!
