Reference sheet for the Guardian of Naem in Fauna and Fable, Jelani the kangaroo!
Name: Jelani
Species: Red kangaroo
Age: 32 (Birthday September 25. Libra)
Height: 6’3” [190.5 cm.]
Weight: 240 lbs. [108 kg]
Origin: Coronation, Naem [He now lives in Arco Bahim, the capital of Naem. Naem lies in the Southeast in the Fauna Kingdom and is a tropical region with beaches, large plateaus to the north, and beautiful Cycladic-style architecture.]
Accent: Jelani has a Naemian accent, which sounds similar to Afrikaans (comparable to an English-speaking South African. He does not trill or “roll” his r’s.) He can also speak in his native Naemian language, which sounds something akin to Zulu. Personality: Confident, spry, genuine, wise, romantic. He is also short tempered and impatient, especially when it comes to dealing with those who are untrustworthy or wish to harm.

He also enjoys the duty of keeping Naem safe, sparring, the beach, and playing his Ikwela [Naemian flute*.]

*Naemian Flute: Ikwela (ee-KWEH-lŭh) (aka the Naemian flute.) This (fictional) instrument does not sound like a normal flute. It is a blocky woodwind that sounds something akin to a wooden train whistle, or an organ with short release envelope. The body of the instrument has three flat, rectangular sections: the main (middle) which has 8 holes on the top, and the two lower sections, which have one hole each on the bottom (and are operated by the thumbs.) It is about the length of a recorder (~13+ inches) and is about ~3.5 inches in width. The mouthpiece is obviously more narrow, but is still fairly wide in comparison to a normal flute’s mouthpiece. It is popular to decorate the opposite end of the instrument with colorful beads on strings.
