“You really think this is over?! That just because you finished me off things can go back to “normal?”
Ha! Silly lyolf. He wants you dead. I am just one of many that will keep coming after you until you are assassinated: just like you have done to so many others.
No one can evade death forever…it is inevitable. It will eventually find you.”
As his body helplessly fell to the ground, taking in his last breaths of life, Whisper stood over him tapping her blade against her claws, somewhat restless and perturbed at how long the fight between them had gone on for until he finally succumbed to his demise.
She refused to leave his body until she was sure he was dead. Her expression was unusually tense yet determined-
A quiet Saturday morning stroll to get out of the house and grab a few groceries had turned into a bloodbath. “Only me…I can’t enjoy a normal weekend out like other people…” she muttered to herself.
Whisper was out walking through town when she noticed someone watching her. At first glance, he seemed like a typical resident out shopping and enjoying a day out on the town. She brushed him off.
Until…she noticed a gleam in his eyes as she passed by him. That same gleam she has in her eyes before she eagerly takes down a target. He was after someone…he was after HER.
When she made it clear she knew who he was and what his intentions were, he merely nodded as he ushered her away from the public and into a nearby alleyway where they could introduce themselves like proper assassins.
Only she would follow a random stranger into a dark alley; nothing wrong with that scenario at all!
He had managed to get in a few good hits on her. As much as she hated to admit it, Whisper was pleasantly surprised someone had been able to keep up with her and fend her off for as long as he did.
She was almost upset he didn’t live…
ALMOST. Good fighter or not, he deserved to die.
Sniffling, she felt a few drops of blood from her nose hit the pavement. Wiping her nose the best she could with her sleeve, she glanced around the scene. No witnesses- good.
She was tempted to just leave his corpse there for the police to find- or whomever else was stupid enough to try and come after her. If what he said was true, then she had lots of work to do…
Training wasn’t going to be enough for this obstacle. No, she needed a plan.
And mostly importantly, find out who wanted her killed badly enough to send hitmen after her. Of course she had enemies, LOTS of enemies. But who’s stupid and audacious enough to take her head-on like this?!
Looks like things were about to get interesting…
“Let the hunt begin.”
(To be continued)
You know it’s bad when Whisper cannot even go for a walk through town without someone trying to kill her! Ah, the life of an assassin is an exciting one for sure-
Whisper realized getting into this field of work came with the high risk of death, especially if you take down prominent figures and infamous criminals.
But what happens when someone puts a hit out on her? Will she survive to find out who is trying to kill her and take them out? Part of her is intrigued that someone would be that stupid to try to kill her…another part of her is excited that someone finds her worthy enough to try to kill. Perhaps it’s time for Whisper to step up her game a bit to keep up with her assailants…
I want to give a huge thanks to the talented artist behind this piece: Black_Gargoyley I have been wanting to commission her for ages, and I was finally lucky enough to get a slot from her. And I was certainly not disappointed! Look at those eyes! She has such a deep expression, as if she is trying to look into your soul…or the eyes of a dead man.
An absolute joy to work with; I highly recommend working with her and watching her if you are not already doing so. Thank you so much again!

Correct; since Black rarely posts images like this individually, I linked that one so she would receive proper credit for her work (Whisper is the third, or middle image on that link).
And thank you! I am so glad you like this piece as well. Black really outdid herself; she puts so much emotion into her pieces.
