Step 2: Black paper
Alright, I want to do this with colored pencils. The ice is going to be mostly transparent, with some frost and distortion, and it will be much easier to make that on the fly this way (for me, anyhow). So, now that I have my sketch, I bust out a non-photo blue col-erase pencil. This bad boy has a number of utilities. In this case: showing up great on black paper and erasing clean!
I did no transfers or anything fancy. The basic design was simple enough to eyeball pretty fast. I tossed in a few ice shards and such for flavor, may or may not keep those.
Also, like my sketchbook, there's margin notes. I'm planning this to be a square hunk of art. Makes my life easy, too! I can make notes (like "crazy ice shit is great!") or test out how colors blend on the black paper. If it's getting chopped off, who will notice when I'm done? Nobody will know. Except...
The shadow knows.
