Well, it's not like we are completely without right-wing extremists. We have the One Nation party, the Christian Democratic party and the Australian Protectionist party, as well as several right wing "journalists" like Andrew Bolt and also right-wing sensationalist television shows like Today Tonight and a Current Affair. All in all, I could not really find a perfect Australian counterpart to Glenn Beck, although Pauline Hanson is a pretty nasty piece of work.
I watch Today Tonight and the mainstream media and really it pales in comparison to how rightwing the US mainstream media tends to be, The subject of socialism is never brought up and there no constant back and forwards bickering between talking heads about who's a communist and who's a fascist. That being said, yeah, Australia does get a few whackjobs now and then, but they rarely gain attention, even on the sensationalist media. I take it the vast majority of the australian population aren't so caught up in a left vs right political duel.
