When she was just a young pokemon, Josephine always admired pokemon battles from having watched her mother’s quite often. She won’t lie in saying that pokemon battles did scare her in the past, but she later began to love them once she started to study and understand what went behind each battle. It was through the many battles she studied and analyzed that she decided to go forth towards one day becoming a leader for a group of pokemon. She did try to practice this with her younger brother, but his disinterest in actually fighting was difficult to work around. At least she managed to build a team of her own years later as the two aim to partake in the Gym Challenge. Having earned her endorsement from her mother, she’s eager to take her learning into the high ranks of battles. While Josephine is happy towards this chance of putting her skills to the test, she does often worry about her own skills when it comes to battling. Josephine didn’t begin her practice towards battling others until she was in her late teen years, and has only been an Inteleon for a few months by this point. There is still a lot she has to learn about her own body due to the many hidden tricks and complexity they have. This has mostly led to the worry that she might be seen as an incompetent Inteleon, or can’t be a leader if she can’t battle as well. Josephine does try to not let this worry her as the Gym Challenge may just be the thing that she needs to show she doesn’t have to be a strong fighter to be a leader.

While Josephine is very skilled at planning out battle strategies, when it comes to actually battling herself she tends to struggle at utilizing most of her Inteleon abilities outside of Snipe Shot. One thing that always gets under Josephine’s skin is the feeling of being seen as an incompetent pokemon due to not understanding her species talents, especially when she’s pushed to battle others. )
