Even for one who, in general, works alone, it can get pretty lonely.
Such is the life of how Mahal lived for eons by this point, with so much time passed that he forgot the last meeting with the other deities. Long ago, they all made this universe, gave it the light to contrast from the darkness, water from flames, and, at the cumulation of their work, life from lifeless on a planet, third from a star. All of them were proud of what they did, for life is too complicated for one alone to make.
Mahal wished to continue onto other parts of the universe, wanting to prepare more systems for life in the lifeless world, but the others wanted to guide their creations. Give them knowledge, prepare them for life, and get love in return. Mahal, having no desire to be worshipped, even for the best of intentions, chose to leave them on their planet and organize other parts of the universe, from the smallest stardust to the most massive galaxy. At various points of time, he returned, seeing how his friends developed and saw frictions developed between half of them, making the time between visits growing longer.
But then they all disappeared.
The deity otter hasn't known what happened to them. Perhaps their cold war suddenly became hot, and they wage war against each other, or maybe their creations got tired and uprooted them. All that he knew was that they're gone with even their life signs faded in their temple.
He did his best to let his friends disappearances not bother him too much, and instead focused on his work on the universe, which has since then suffered from decay. But there are times where he let the thought of being the last deity in an empty world consumed him.
And yet, he has not given up hope that the successors of his friends will arrive. Indeed, he even sensed one of their powers in used occasionally since then, if only a mere shadow compared to its last owner's prime. But the others' energy now showed up, with a couple already close to their real capabilities. The time that the empty seats became filled may be a near possibility.
Sorry for the indulgent story I wrote for the piece. ^.|.^;;
In any case, enjoy!

So, many, writing discrepancies.
I didn't get the first paragraph, my mind was like. Processing, processing, processing... & still processing.
Other than that, it's a nice mini-story overall.
Keep up the good work!
(Also, the facial expression in the last panel kinda makes the otter look like a dog).
