I've worn my LSK and Volksmarine uniforms at the local con, albeit in fursuit. Although one year, my character in a Grenztruppen uniform was never posted by the photographer.

Nice, my Step Dad served in the Torpedo boat Flotilla of the Volksmarine. As for your Grenztruppen Images, maybe the photographer was afraid of possible backlash. Considering that the Grenztruppen of the GDR have some infamy to their name.

A few years ago at a flea market I was selling at, I was selling originals of WW2 German and US photos. Some WOKE woman had an utter meltdown that I was selling 'Nazi memorabilia' and called the cops on me. The police officer that showed up looked at what I had, said that it was perfectly legal to sell. The woman yelled at the cop, insisting I be charged with hate crimes. Then she said that her grandfather was in the Kriegsmarine in WW2 in the Mediterranean manning "PT Boats" (Schnellboats!) and had two photo albums, his uniform, wehrpass and P-38 pistol...AND THREW IT ALL AWAY!!! The cop ripped into her about throwing that stuff away when it could have been donated to a museum and especially tossing the pistol. She said, and I'll never forget this "HE was a Nazi, all Germans are Nazis!!" Both the cop and I narrowed our eyes at her, the Cop saying "Nice way, group lumping a nationality as Nazis, That makes you a Nazi too! " The woman looked utterly horrified and stormed off swearing.

But tossing the photo albums of Schnellboats....You know how RARE those images are today?

If she has problems coming to terms with the past of her grandfather, that is her problem. She has to deal with that, not those around her.

And yeah, I am aware how rare images of smaller german navy vessels are, especially photographies taken in action by servicemen.

I managed to digitize a copy of Soldaten Zur See: Die Volksmarine Im Einsatz and post it on YouTube. Had to break it down into several parts, but earning thousands of views. My town even has a destroyer on display like the one which appears in the video.

As I was going to say. 100 year old cloth is not usually in wearable shape. I saw a Gordan Highlander of about the same vintage last year, got to handle it. No one present was small enough to get in the thing. Oh, St Andrews Highland Festival in Taylor, Mi.

I've rarely seen original whole uniforms that date prior to WW2 outside of museums, especially the non-US stuff. And honestly, I assume a lot of museums are using replicas.

That uniform makes me think of Girl Genius, for some reason. Just the sheer weirdness of it, a century removed, I guess.

Nice setup, but seeing how clean that 100+ year old tunic is still makes me wince. Hats and helmets are the only original pre ww2 clothing items I wear, I'd be too paranoid going out in public wearing anything else. Too many crazies out there.
