Was wanting to ask; what's the context behind this, if you don't mind?

It was a very long time ago on one Armello discord server. It was a free RP in the general chat, where I, as Thane, had to do push-ups with Horace sitting on my back. It was also funny that he liked to "flirt" with me and then look at my reaction. Ah, good memory...

Definitely sounds like a good time; too bad the fandom's turned so toxic towards Thane and his players these days.

Personally, I can't say anything about it. I have not experienced this myself .__. (although there was a lot of other shit, but these were unique cases)

Over on the Discord and Reddit - at least, from several months ago; I left and haven't really been back since - the fandom tends to be outright hostile towards Thane players. From what I've seen, it's partially a combination of Thane being straightforward to the point of "overpowered" - despite multiple other characters being massively stronger than him if you know how to play, and Thane being near-useless in high-tier play - but most of the hatred stems from the fandom's love of Magna; since she dislikes Thane in-lore, the fandom immediately latched on to this and started hating him and his players as well.

Which is bad, because a lot of players both old and new play Thane, because of his versatility; the targeted harassment of Thane users resulted in many people either switching to new characters, or just leaving the game entirely. It's part of the reason why the game is practically dead these days - aside from the game's age and LoG being unable to get new content in fast enough, the memetic crap involving Thane and Magna ended up alienating a ton of people.

I play mainly with players from Europe and Asia. In my personal experience, the most popular and "toxic" characters are: Elicia, Fang, Silas, Zosha and Jordana. All the rest are already random and even more so they are vanilla characters. So with regard to the community, I personally can’t say anything unambiguously. Since I'm a fan, so is LoG (I know that they are working on something, but the fact that there is no content or updates for Aremllo is a fact). The only thing I can say for sure is that due to the change in community managers, they stopped reposting pictures on Twitter T__T

Yeah, the American players are a different breed; glad to hear that Europe and Asia are pretty nice. I'll try to find a way to play with them.

I think that you must be lucky to be in the right lobby at the right time, taking into account the difference in time zones)

Excellent idea, whether it was just to try to distract Thane or to make him laugh in the midst of the effort XD
