From top left to bottom right:
1) Black Dye-na-flow by Jacquard's, wire mesh bent into kitty ear shape, cat comb, and faux fur. The fur was white, but I attacked it with brown dye-na-flow (and then the black) to alter the color and get a bit of a fade.
2) The wire mesh kitty ears have been covered on one side with a grey-pink satin-like fabric. I used hot-glue, and it's a little messy, but only in parts that I can cover up.
3) Two finished kitty ears. I've hot-glued the faux fur onto the back of the wire mesh form, rolling the ends over to cover fabric edges and brushing the fur up into the appropriate shape.
4) The ears have been attached to the wig base, using hot-glue. I don't know if you can see it, but I had bent out the bottoms of both ears so that there was a bit of a platform for gluing. I also covered the bottom of the ears with the satin fabric so that the mesh wouldn't snag or poke through the pantyhose wig base.
5) The same as number 4, but turned around, kitty ears from the front. I added small pieces of white faux fur in the corners (the wrong ones, I now realize), but the effect was lost when I put the rest of the hair in.
6) A snippet shot of the finished wig, emphasis on the ear. Ta-daaaaa!
I'd really like to make a neater pair of these to attach to hair clips or a headband at some point. Something to wear at cons when I'm not in full suit. Hopefully eventually. *crosses fingers*
