Sharleena And Roland: The Way To A Mel's Heart...
Gaps are funny things.
In
tegerio's "The Ballad Of Adler Young", they block many of the lands of Faerie from other lands.
However, when his ancestral home of Albric Tor was threatened by the Plague of Battles, Roland Sartoriousson, former High Marshal of Faerie, heard the call and left his retirement in Elfhame to join the battle.
He never made it. Sergeant Wing, who was ordered to remain in Elfhame with his wife, heard no more from him.
How he wound up in the section of Lowfolk land called Arizona, he still doesn't know. However, he has settled into his new job as General Manager of Mason Motors quite well. And Matt, Tali and Lowchan, in their other roles, have found having a retired spymaster around very useful indeed...
One of the perks, of course, is the marvelous cooking of Sharleena Hyena, head of support services for Mason Motors Racing. Sharleena loves to cook, and Roland loves to eat, so it's a match made in heaven...

TempCorps is mum as to whether or not this was an accidental occurrence. They HAVE, however, made use of his expertise on occasion under the "Code Name: Mycroft" programme...
2) It's a proud name, so he uses it proudly. Sharleena thinks it cute.
3) Since Mason Motors IS in the exotic vehicles business, it's not outside the realm of possibility!

Whole tourist industry built around the Vortexes. I've had fun in years past, will hike to one of them wearing BDU's and having a tactical pack. Stand there with some Paracord tied to a tree and wait for the touristas to arrive. Them: "What are you doing?" Me: "Waiting for the portal to open, heading thru" Them: "You can't do that!" Me: "I'm good, have gear and supplies and the Paracord will guide me back to the Portal." Them: " .... insert new age mumbo jumbo as they move off" Had one tour guide tell me to stop playing Star Gate Late 90s were fun - Lived in Flagstaff and Sedona was an easy drive. I'm still close but the traffic now is horrible and you need some permit now to park at the trailheads there in Sedona.
Excellent. Tho you COULD catch a lift on the Elfhame Valley Railway... which is an upcoming project., referred to in EOCostello 's "Sharp Words".
