Putting this directly in scraps. I said I'd upload at least a picture of the sweets I made for the party I had yesterday, so I am!
I'm.... very bad at making sweets LOOK pretty right now, but very good at making them taste GREAT, so everything tasted about 50x better than they look.
I made the sugar cookies-- gluten free, some dipped in dark chocolate melted with some cream and butter-- and the pomegranate tart -- it has a chocolate crust with an almond pastry cream center marbled with pomegranate syrup, topped with pomegranate syrup, and topped again with a pomegranate cream cheese whipped cream. Mom made the gluten free apple tart.
At the end of the day all that remained was half a cookie and a single large slice of mom's tart, so even if everything is really ugly... I'm super happy with it because EVERYTHING got eaten.
