This is my first attempt at making hooves and they're not quite finished yet. These are supposed to be for my fursona which is a draft horse and they will have "feathering" from about mid-calf down when I'm done. I'm wearing leg warmers in this picture to give you an idea of how the hooves should look since I haven't finished the fur "feathers" yet. The hooves themselves are rubber; found them at a horse supply store. I sanded them to give them a little bit of texture like a real hoof has and painted them with acrylic paint. The white bit showing through the warmers is the back of the shoe I used. :P They won't show when I'm done. I chopped off the heels ((which is really hard to do apparently XD)) and reinforced the soles with wood to make them more stable. The shoes, as I had to remove the straps and whatnot, are held on by bits of elastic and fit inside the hoof. The hoof is then strapped on by ties around the top. They are quite comfortable and easy to walk in, but standing still for long periods of time is difficult as you can't actually rest on your heels a whole lot. I also made the bells around my ankles; they're attached to little strips of black suede and laced in the back. I'll post finished pictures as soon as I finish the "feathers."
