Uh, I guess? Although I don't really know my history...

I'm an American mutt- bits and pieces of a lot of things but no real strong connections to any of them in particular.

It's the whole "melting pot" thing- between people moving away (for jobs, for relationships, etc) and the fact that it's a larger country than most, combined with a sort of subtle pressure to assimilate and just be "American" as opposed to "Irish American" or "Chinese American" or whatever... there's identification with the nation as a whole or with your state or general region, but it's easy for roots to get blurred. My last name, for example, is apparently spelled French but pronounced Italian, and I don't really have much exposure to either of those cultures.
