i DO NOT like art classes in general

because you learn so many different ways to draw but no matter who you're dealing with everything you've been doing your whole life is wrong and they are right

it's like they believe there's some concretely correct way to draw, even though they all draw a different way

i'm not much for ego but that combined with the fact that he he has 100% disrespect for cartooning in general makes me p mad and i aint gon take dat shit

Yeah, I've had some pretty bad experiences with art teachers. Is it a public school teacher, or are you taking courses?
Public school ones who AREN'T incredibly supportive and gentle need to get the fuck out. I'm a harsh critic, but shit, if someone isn't going to PURSUE A LIFE OF ART then don't try to boss them around.
The reason art teachers don't like cartoons is because they immediately assume you don't know ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING.
My 12th grade teacher tried to tell me I didn't know squat about anatomy because I drew FUNNY ANIMALS and shit. i'm not that great of an artist but there's this thing called YOU'RE A TEACHER and IF YOU SEE AN ERROR, EXPLAIN IT TO ME.
If only I didn't hate children, I'd be an art teacher. >:I

A lot of HARDCORE! art teachers hate little cartoon doodles and all that. Almost every art teacher I have had has hated the fact that I draw kawaii desu animu and they told me to stop that because it's silly and not real art.

One teacher I had threatened to fail me on an assignment if I did it in that style. I told him that it wasn't fair because what I was planning to do was within parameters of the assignment. He then pretty much told me to suck it up and he does what he wants because he's a professional artist and has galleries and shit in Chicago and has done all these murals or something somewhere. I told him the man needs to stop trying to keep me down and I fucking did it anyway.

Long story short: Project was baller. Everyone except him loved it. I got a C.

I had a art teacher who would only make us copy art. We could do nothing of are own.

Stupid art teachers... i took an art history class, and they whined that my art style was not enough like any of the artists i was supposed to replicate. I think people just like to complain, Though i think your art teacher was a bit jerklike... I think the little sketch is really cute btw.
