He's Big Ben. Despite his skin hue he's actually English. The color has been altered due to a bad habit of working bare-chested near boiling hot machinery that would normally require some kind of protection.

... Meaning that, literally, his lower body is still strikingly white. Doctors at med-bay have tried numerous time to encourage him to work with at least a jump-suit on, but it only made him more resilient. What's funny is, aside from that, there seem to be no collateral damage.

And if there were any his crew ardently argues he'd be able to fight them through sheer will power.
