fanart for Yu Tomofuji´s manga Niehime to kemono ou - Sacrifice to the king of beasts.
Landbert from the Hyena clan is Sali´s appointed captain of the Queen´s guard and is falsly accused for a crime he didn´t commit. Sali tells him to have faith in her, that she will find the real culprit. Landbert, who never was given faith by anybody is deeply touched by her compassion.
Note: I redesigned Land´s face a little to make him appear more hyena- like. The original Landbert allways looked like a teddybear-fox mix who had stuffed his snout into the full chocolatecream jar^^

Hehe thanks. He is a likeable character. Straight forward, a bit naughty, but actually a sad character fiven his past.
And about his eye: According to his own words, he is a half breed with a demonic beast from a differnt clan then the hyenas. In this manga, all hyenas have black eyeballs.

[SPOILERS] Sali thought that the hair pulled out from the assailant was different from Land's, so she searched for a race with the same hair colour, members of that race were summoned, one of them was behaving suspiciously, he was cross-examined and he confessed to the crime.
It was a badger.
By the way, thanks for the mental image of Landbert with his snout stuffed into the chocolate cream jar, I needed that!

Ah thanks for the infos. I rade the manga online on mangafox.net but the translators screwed up with the posting. They left out the chapter with the solving of the crime and instead posted the second next chapter two times. I guess Land was more then relieved and there was hug in store for him from Sali, I suppose.
And hehe you are welcome. I instantly had this image in mind the first time I saw Landbert´s design. Describing him a hyena was a bit off, but I guess that is due to Yu Tomofuji´s drawing style for anthros^^. But his snout allways looked like ... well ... newly stuffed into a chocolate cream jar

Exactly. It is a fact that some titles are translated to german while some others are left english, some even stay japanese to be honest.
Sacrifice to the king of beasts would translate in german. "Opfergabe an den König der Bestien", which would sound a bit stiff in my oppinion, so I think the publishers in Germany thought so too and that was the reason why they stayed with the english title that sound a bit better. Niehime to kemono ou, the original japanese title, would be a bit complicated to behold for german readers anyway
