A quick birthday gift I drew up for a long-time friend and someone very dear to me; Crystal. I figured she'd want something completely me instead of something forced, so I drew this up in school. It took about 1 1/2 hours to draw and ink and 2 hours to colour. Besides a bit of sloppy inking, I'm rather pleased with it!
I have another piece on the way. Yay! Drawing again! I'm learning not to be afraid of really abstract symbolism in my work as well as diving straight into the things and people that inspire me.
India ink, coloured pencil, prismacolour marker on imageboard.

he's just awesome, I've been very inspired by him too. ^-^ Symbolism is like a freaking fetish to me, I cant get enough. I study ancient cultures pretty much only for the symbols and stories.. X3 we have a very fascinating world history, with so many recurring themes... it all it quite mind-blowing, to me, anyways.
I bet!!! there's so much that can be meant with a simple shape or motif, it's just awesome. I'm a big fan of all symbolism, but the spiritual symbolism of ancient cultures is my forte', it's all the non-fiction I seem to read. X3 my dad's a freemason so he lends me all these great books on these and related subjects. I'm in love with the universal monomyth, the base of all religions it seems, the sun-worshiping base that hides behind so much.. the daily battles between day and night, sun's death in midwinter, all relating to the cycles and nuances of life and death...
and of course, forging our own neo-symbols, making hybrids and mutants of old symbols even, to better suit the spirit of our times... that's what I feel like art like this is doing. It makes me happy to see.

I will do that sometime, as for now, you might enjoy this perhaps.. (just made an account here myself)
